In November 2014, the Town Council conducted a Traffic Impact Analysis to review current traffic levels and the impact of projected future growth on North Collins and Tripp Road. As a result of that analysis (and after community meetings and online surveys), the Council approved work for the improvement of Collins Road to a 4-lane divided thoroughfare between U.S. Highway 80 and E. Tripp Road, and the reconstruction of the existing intersection of Collins and E. Tripp Road into a single traffic roundabout in order to mitigate current traffic congestion in this area. This is the first part of a long-term project to improve and widen Collins Road from U.S. Highway 80 to Barnes Bridge Road.
Utility relocation and tree clearing is currently underway for this project and construction of the actual main road is scheduled to get underway in the late Spring of 2019. Two-way traffic will be maintained through this area during construction. This page will be updated as various project milestones are reached during construction.
