The need to review other options for police services stems from increased costs for DSO services and concerns about the service level provided through dispatching services. It is not about staff performance or the satisfaction of services received from the administration or deputies that have faithfully served the community for decades.
In the summer of 2017, Town Staff was notified by Dallas County that the Town would now be responsible for 100% of the cost of dispatch services they deem to be the Town’s portion, an increase of $728,302 over the previous year’s contract (excluding salary adjustments, and routine increases). In August 2018, the Town Council authorized the release of a Request for Proposals to conduct a study to determine the costs and implementation steps to various other options for police services. Matrix Consulting Group was the lone respondent to the RFP. Staff has reviewed the attached proposal and is confident that Matrix is qualified and capable of conducting the evaluation of Police Service Options. The estimated time-frame for the study is 14 weeks.
