[ARCHIVED] Artic weather to arrive in North Texas

The combination of strong north winds and cold temperatures will result in wind chill values in the single digits and teens. Dangerous wind chills are expected through Saturday, Dec. 25. Dress warmly, cover exposed skin, and avoid extended time outdoors.

A Wind Chill Watch is in effect from Thursday morning through Friday morning for all of our North and Central Texas counties. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as -15 degrees are possible. These wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Avoid extended time outside, and if you absolutely have to brave the elements, make sure to bundle up with multiple lightweight layers and cover exposed skin.

Always remember the four Ps:
People - check in on neighbors and family members.
Pets - bring your pets inside or have a plan for your pets if you're traveling. If you're cold, they're cold!
Plants - cover your plants to help retain some heat. Bring your sensitive plants indoors.
Pipes - protect outdoor pipes. Open the cabinets to keep warmer air flowing and let indoor faucets drip.
