Message From the Chief

I would like to personally introduce myself and welcome you to Sunnyvale Fire Rescue's website page.  My name is Chief David Jones and I began my fire service career in 1988 with the Keller Fire Department promoting through the ranks to Fire Chief in 2013 and retiring in 2021. Prior to joining the team in Sunnyvale, I served as the Interim Fire Chief for the Town of Trophy Club. It is my sincere hope that our website can provide you with information regarding our department, its services, personnel, equipment, as well as future job openings and department events.

Sunnyvale Fire Rescue was formally established in 1971 by a group of highly dedicated volunteers whose mission it was to aid their neighbors and help protect their homes. The department has evolved from those humble beginnings into a combination department staffed by a professional group of career, volunteer, and part-time firefighters. Like the department, our mission has also evolved. Not only do we respond to structure fires and motor vehicle accidents, our services also include emergency medical response and transport with highly skilled and state certified Paramedics providing care for our sick and injured citizens, and state certified Fire Inspectors and Investigators ensure that our buildings and businesses are compliant with the fire code. Our department takes pride in its ability to serve the needs of the community each day as our citizens call upon our professionalism. Sunnyvale Fire Rescue personnel also focus a large amount of time each year providing the public with fire safety and education, first aid, and CPR training along with many other services for the citizens of Sunnyvale and the surrounding community.

I am honored to lead these dedicated professionals. Their continued commitment to serve the citizens of Sunnyvale and all those who visit our Town is a tribute to those original members of the Sunnyvale Fire Rescue.
