[ARCHIVED] Fire Department lifts burn ban

burn ban lifted

Although the ban has been lifted, the Fire Department would like to remind everyone of a few things since we have not caught up on the average rainfall for the year to date totals:
  • Open burning can only be achieved with an authorized burn permit. Burn permits are issued Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Visit townofsunnyvale.org/burning for additional information or to fill out an application for a burn permit.
  • No burning should take place when wind speeds are forecasted above 15 mph.
  • Never leave the burn site unattended.
  • Burning is solely for the purpose of land-clearing and only trees, brush, and limbs may be burned.
  • If you do choose to burn, please ensure that the fire is extinguished before sundown.
  • Burn piles are required to be at least 150 feet from structures and 50 feet from property lines and public roadways.
  • Always have a water source or form of extinguishment available.
